Script to Screen opens a film & TV studio in Sydney, Launchpad Filmmakers Centre. The studio hosts a score of production companies, and produces several films.
Launchpad closes in 2002 in order for us to develop and produce our own projects.
Script to Screen produces Tragic Love, awarded at Tropfest, the world’s biggest short film festival.
Paul Andersen wins the Australian Writers Guild (AWGIE) award for best original drama Night Swimming, a feature-length play commissioned by ABC radio.
The Visitor is financed by Screen Australia. The film goes on to have its World Premiere at MIFF the following year, and wins multiple awards across the globe.
Script to Screen produces a commercial for GetUp! that wins a national award at a gala event at the Sydney Opera House. The spot, co-created with Adrian Elton, screens nationally on TV and in cinemas.
Script to Screen’s production Happy Accident wins production financing from Coca-Cola. The short comedy maxes the online ratings and is the hit of the Los Angeles Comedy Festival.
Paul Andersen wins a place at prestigious Accelerator director’s lab at MIFF. Fellow attendees include Nash Edgerton (The Square), David Michôd (Animal Kingdom), Sophie Hyde (52 Tuesdays), Leon Ford (Griff the Invisible), Sean Byrne (The Loved Ones), Grant Scicluna (Downriver), Kasimir Burgess (Fell), and Adam Arkapaw (cinematographer on True Detective).
Paul Andersen produces a short comedy Imaginary Friend in New York City, post-producing in LA and at Skywalker Ranch.
Paul also options his first feature screenplay, My Family and Other Strangers.
Producer Bill Leimbach (Beneath Hill 60) headhunts Paul to direct Departure Lounge, a short romantic comedy set in a Queensland airport. The film goes on to win Best Comedy short in the popular vote in the Australian Academy Awards.
Paul signs with top agency Catherine Poulton Management, in the creator’s division.
Paul Andersen and Tom Reed are selected from over 550 writing teams for Screen Australia & FremantleMedia’s inaugural Blue Sky initiative, working with mentor John Yorke (Wolf Hall). Our high-concept TV drama is optioned by FremantleMedia (Wentworth, Neighbours, The X Factor).
Paul also options feature comedy Good Grief to renowned production company Ruby Entertainment (Crackerjack).
Paul wins a place at the prestigious éQuinoxe script lab (Paris’s answer to Sundance) to develop his romantic comedy. Mentors include Matthew Robbins, who wrote Steven Spielberg’s 2nd feature and is Guillermo del Toro’s writing partner. Past participants include Rolf de Heer (Bad Boy Bubby) & Alison Tilson (Japanese Story).
